Tired of plucking and squinting as you deal with lengthy nose hairs? Or worse, does someone else do it for you instead? Save yourself the stress (and pain) with one of our expert-tested nose trimmers. Because having a moustache that begins inside your nostrils isn’t exactly a look.
Still, nose hair exists for a reason – to catch foreign particles and 'debris', like dirt and bacteria — so it's not a good idea to wax or pluck your nose i.e. completely remove it. No, the way to tackle nose hair is to trim it, and if you want to do that, you’ll need the right tool for the job.
No beard, back, balls or full-body groomer is going to help you trim those fine, little nostril hairs. That’s why we’ve put together a collection of the best nose hair trimmers that can access hard-to-reach areas and come complete with extras like rechargeable batteries and washable heads.

How to Use a Nose Hair Trimmer
We understand if you're a little hesitant at the prospect of sticking a trimmer up your nose, but thankfully, trimming your nose hair is actually a very simple process. As you'd expect, start by inserting the trimmer into your nose.
Next, squeeze your nostril with your finger and twist the trimmer left and right until you've removed any offending hair. Finish by doing the same on the other side of your honker.
Are Nose Hair Trimmers Safe?
If you compare them to other methods of nose hair removal – we’re talking plucking, snipping and waxing – nose trimmers are the safest way to remove unwanted nose hair.
Unlike accidentally stabbing yourself with some mini scissors, trimmers use blades that only shave the hairs on the top of the skin, rather than providing an ultra-close shave. Think of it the same as getting a haircut at the barber.
If you’re doing it right, it should be totally safe and painless. However, it can cause discomfort if you’re taking it a little too far up the nose or being too rapid with your movements, but overall they’re very straightforward to use and essentially idiot-proof.
If you’re worried, go for a model with a rounded rotary blade, to avoid any accidental sharp jabbing.
Can You Use Nose Hair Trimmers on Other Parts of Your Body?
This all depends on where you intend to use the trimmer. If you're looking to trim your ear hair or some especially long eyebrow hairs then yes, your nose hair trimmer can be used for this. However, if you think you're going to use it to shave your back or, even worse, your balls, we've got some bad news for you.
For those tasks, check our articles on the back and ball grooming.
How to Clean a Nose Hair Trimmer
You know how to use a nose trimmer, but making sure it's clean and sanitised is just as important. To do this, turn off the trimmer and remove any hair that's been collected. Most trimmers will have a compartment that twists off, so make sure you dispose of any hair that's been collected in there too and give your trimmer a rinse under hot running water.
If you want to go a step further, you can wipe down the trimmer using a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. This will kill any lingering bacteria, but, again, make sure the trimmer is turned off when you do this.
How We Test
Every product stamped with the Men's Health Lab Approved logo has been tried and tested by a panel of 220 men. They assessed everything from ease of cutting to trimming time and noted how fiddly any ear, eyebrow and beard attachments were to fit and use. They told us if they experienced any discomfort and considered how easy each trimmer was to clean and store.
In the MH Lab, we used our noise meter to assess whether the trimmers were loud, relatively loud, fairly quiet, relatively quiet or quiet. Your neighbours can thank us later. You’ll find our top picks listed below, plus a handful of MH editors’ favourites.
