The 50 best spots for lunch in Roanoke (2025)

The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, Curio Collection by Hilton offers elegant Tudor-style accommodations with sophisticated rooms and a grand ballroom. Guests can enjoy fine dining and relax by the outdoor pool. The hotel is known for its iconic food and wine, showcasing Virginia's culinary heritage dating back to President Washington's era. Visitors can savor regional dishes at The Regency Room and The Pine Room while experiencing genuine southern hospitality.

Right off the highway and beautifully situated! You feel like you step back in time, but at the same time it is clean and modern. The staff is amazing. The food was very good and the pool and fitness center were exactly what we needed! Highly recommend this location and will definitely stay here again!

We had a very quick and overall enjoyable stay at The Hotel Roanoke. While there were many positives there is some room for improvement. Pros: The staff who we interacted with were very nice. We had wonderful service and a great breakfast in the Regency Room. The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Cons: We had requested a crib be placed in the room for our baby. When we arrived there was no crib - thankfully we had brought a pack and play. We had placed the "do not disturb" sign on our door while our baby was napping and housekeeping knocked on the door anyway. I was disappointed in the level of cleanliness of our bathroom. When we left the hotel there were a number of staff members by the front door - no one offered to help with our luggage.

The Main areas of the hotel and the hotel grounds were stunning. Staff was friendly. The wow factor definitely stopped at the room however. I expected much more from Curio collection hotel. My room had cobwebs everywhere and dust on everything. The bathroom wasn’t very clean at all either. I have stayed at the Hampton downtown and it was much better and cheaper. I don’t know if maybe they put us in a room that hadn’t been touched in a long time or what, but definitely not worth what I paid, and I won’t be staying again.

Chris checked us in this weekend at Hotel Roanoke which is a beautiful historic property. Chris gave us invaluable information about the hotel and the things to do in the surrounding area. The room I originally booked was not available but Chris took care to check for an appropriate substitution. Hotel Roanoke was a comfortable walk to downtown Roanoke where we were able to have a great evening and amazing food choices as we checked in pretty late.Brunch was phenomenal, the Hostess, Crystal remembered our names from 3 hours earlier when we made our reservation, talk about impressive. ❤️Dinner at The Pine room exceeded my expectations. We were served by My Penny Ray was was a pure delight, very attentive and kind to all of us who dined on the outside patio.Drinks were phenomenal and my steak, potatoes and asparagus were masterfully prepared to the PERFECT temperature by Chefs Chris and Chris. Have you ever eaten and your eyes roll to the back of your head? There was not one misstep in any of the food that my party consumed. We made no substitutions to the menu presented and have no regretsAs I’m eating I’m planning on my head my next visit, I really feel comfortable and welcomed.Do not pass up the opportunity to visit Hotel Roanoke! All the staff displayed incredible pride in the hotel and you can just feel the positive energy exuded from all.

This hotel was so nice! We stayed in the Governors Suite on the 7th floor, what a beautiful room! Everything was perfect as well! The balcony on the roof is breathtaking! If you ever have a chance to stay in this room, it's 100% worth it. Several well known famous people have also stayed in this Suite and I can see why. Customer service was also great at this hotel along with the bar in the lobby! If you have never stayed here, you can park in the self service parking, usually free when you rent a room, just slide your room key at the gate to leave. They also have valet parking which is also exceptional. If you park at self serve, walk towards the hotel on the left side up the hill, that will get you to the entrance near the center of the complex. Enjoy your stay!

We have been stopping at this hotel for almost 10 years on our journey down south. It is a great stopping point. The hotel is historic and has lots of charm. The staff is so friendly and helpful even when arriving late at night. The bar is a happening spot - ask for Henry! He makes a great chocolate martini. The bell staff is very helpful and provides a great service upon arrival. The hotel is currently renovating the rooms and can’t wait to see what they look like! We will be back next year!

The Sunday brunch is amazing! It's very affordable and a great place to go to celebrate Valentine's, birthdays, dates, any any other nice occasion. The food selection is a great variety and it all tastes excellent. The service you get is also highly satisfactory. Definitely a must for a meal idea!

The hotel is very historic which adds to its charm. Service and hospitality is good. Seems like they struggle with crowds. The executive lounge is nonexistent. There is water and soda in the fridge and the coffee machine is broken. No food at all including no continental breakfast. It’s basically a nice refrigerator with some chairs. You can definitely find a better 4-star hotel for a better price.

My family has had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Roanoke twice now. This delightful hotel boasts an impeccable level of cleanliness and an inviting ambiance that truly sets it apart. During our recent one-night stay, we couldn't help but admire the captivating decor and charming vibe. After departing, I was upset to realize that I had left my glasses behind at the hotel. However, my worries were quickly addressed when I reached out to the hotel and had the pleasure of speaking with Robert Geroe. He promptly located my glasses and arranged for them to be shipped to my home in New Jersey. To my delight, the package arrived within two days, accompanied by a thoughtful little note from Robert. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to him!Undoubtedly, we will be returning to Hotel Roanoke for future stays, and we wholeheartedly recommend this wonderful establishment to anyone seeking a remarkable and memorable experience.

Historic hotel that really keep a lot of the original architecture, while updating the necessary features for a modern feel. Food and drink are very good. Pool area is small but nice, very quiet.

We visited the Roanoke to see the Christmas tree exhibit. I have no experience with the rooms and staying at the hotel. It is wonderful that this event is hosted and the community is invited to visit. Each tree is sponsored and decorated by a business or civic organization and then the trees are voted on. The hotel also has beautiful outside decorations and photo opportunities. I would guess that a hotel that does such a great thing for the community would have wonderful customer service! All of the staff that we saw greeted us with a smile. Outside in the courtyard they had Christmas music playing and the lights on the large tree in the center kept time to the music. We really enjoyed the experience!

The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center, Curio Collection is a fabulous location allows for easy access to explore inner downtown Roanoke, VA. The bridge overpass was very convenient. Upon arrival, our check-in was seamless. The hotel guest greeter was very friendly and helpful. The valet service was equally terrific. Check-out was again seamless, with a very friendly receptionist at the desk. The room itself was quite comfortable with fine shampoos, conditioners, and soaps. The shower head in the bathroom was very relaxing. My only complaint is that there were not daily housekeeping visits. Otherwise, the Hotel Roanoke provided a lovely weekend getaway.

12/31/2021GOODSuper friendly staff.Excellent food especially the burgers.Good breakfast selection.BAD;wish hotels would figure out a way to soft close doors, because unfortunately guests are too stupid to figure out how to shut a door quietly.Floors in common areas are dirtyBathroom are very small in the Executive Rooms

Wow, I have lived in Roanoke most of my life and had no idea what I was missing. The historical vibe you get here is Amazing and EVERYONE from the moment we walked in treated us with kindness and courtesy. Me and my wife spent over an hour just walking around and admiring the architecture and historical pictures. Dinner at the regency room was also 5 star. Me and my wife had one of the best nights of our lives together here and hope to go back again some day.

It is one of the best hotels I ever stayed. Due to its historic background, decoration, site, and spatial link/bridge to the city center, the Hotel Roanoke has many unique features. The hotel has one main bar and two restaurants. I do like the variety of drinks and food. The hotel has also an executive lounge with a limited service. The conference center is quite spacious. The rooms are decorated in a historic+romantic way. If you go there by a car either you can park your car or ask for a vale parking. The staff of the hotel is very professionel and helpful. If you stay at the Hotel Roanoke please do not forget to watch the documentary movie of the hotel on TV, at the 1st Chanel.

Was gifted a night stay. Room was clean and had all the basic amenities. Bed was comfortable enough and room cooled adequately, but I would recommend a fan or white noise machine if you have trouble sleeping.I utilized the room service for dinner, but after all the fees, it would have been better to just go down to the dining area (or if you are visiting Roanoke, just head downtown, there are plenty of options at all price levels). If you stay in the executive area, you will receive a voucher for a meal, but it only covers a portion.I recommend using the Hilton honors program/app to get a digital room key and to check out remotely to save time.

Good location - you just need to cross the bridge to get to downtown.Rooms are very small and average, never mind hanging long dresses as the safe is in the middle of the closet and is in the way. The towels smell like mildew.Service is below average. Checked in via the app then they gave my room away/was told that my room was not quite ready even after 6:00 PM. James was not helpful at all, could not really answer any of my queries and even told us that we have to pay a rent fee on the fridge in the room if we insist on staying on the same floor of our original booking. The spa was great but they need to invest on renovating and upgrading the overall aesthetic of it. Elevator was under “renovation” / broken so we had to take the stairs a lot as the only elevator was slow.Breakfast options were delicious and the bar is one of their redeeming qualities.

I’ve stayed here a few times and it was lovely. The food is great too! Love the peanut soup! The lobby is absolutely gorgeous and the staff has always been great. Went to see the Christmas trees tonight and forgot how much I loved doing that!

Staying here has been a "bucket list" item of mine for about 20 years now, and now that I've experienced it, I have to say I was disappointed. The hotel is beautiful and the location is unbeatable, walking distance to everything downtown has to offer. For the most part, the staff was delightful as well.Check-in starts at 4pm, however we weren't sure of how parking would work so we showed up about a half hour early to figure that out. We parked in their "self-parking" lot, and walked up to the reception area to ask for details about parking. We were informed that there would be a $15 dollar charge added to the room for self-parking, and that our room card would get us in and out of the lot. We acknowledged that we were early but asked if our room was ready and were informed that check-in does not start until 4, so we headed to Montano's (highly recommend!).We returned around 4:45, unloaded all of our luggage and walked up to reception to check-in. Once more were informed that the room was not ready. This was very disappointing, and when my wife inquired if we had the check-in time incorrect, the receptionist curtly stated "there's nothing I can do about it."We gave them our cell-phone number so they could let us know when it was ready, repacked all of our luggage into the car, and left once more.Upon receiving the text that the room was ready, we once more headed back to the hotel, unpacked our luggage, checked in, and headed up to our room. I'm not sure what all that time was spent doing, but it was not cleaning the room. There was trash in the desk drawer, the toilet was steadily running, there were long black hairs on things throughout the room, a freestanding make-up mirror in the bathroom still had its light on, and outside of the bed being made, didn't seem to have been cleaned. We had a great night on the town, most of the staff was very pleasant, and outside of our room the hotel looked beautiful. The state of the room itself, particularly after not being able to check-in until an hour after the scheduled time, was quite disappointing. I am glad to have finally stayed here, but feel foolish for feeling like I had been missing out all these years, and definitely won't be back.

I stayed at this beautiful hotel for business. The valet parking staff was amazing. They helped me bring my luggage in and brought it to my room. The front desk crew is friendly and great since of humor. The dining staff from the chefs to the service was top-notch. My room was clean and beautiful . I walked around the hotel looking at all the amazing history. I highly recommend staying here on business or just to get away

The rooms were smaller than pictured and smaller that I imagined. Also the only lighting in the room were 2 small desk lamps which didn’t put out much light. The bed had no blanket at all. All it had was multiple sheets. We booked a wellness room for extra money with double windows and the room was so small that the second window was covered by a table with a tv sitting on it. So we got no enjoyment from that and my husband and I didn’t see anything extra about this room at all and expected more from Hilton especially with being charged nearly $300 for and overnight stay. If your a smoker like my husband and I, you have to go down the hall down the elevator, through the lobby and outside and walk around the hotel to the side and down the sidewalk to a designated smoking area to smoke and it was a pain!!We were so uncomfortable and displeased that we had our dinner at the Regency room, and we left.

So impressed with the genuine hospitality we received!! The front desk team was so exceptional with my requests and accommodations. The hotel is lovely, and the renovations were not nearly as noticeable as we might have expected. Truly a beautiful place, with stellar accommodations.

Fabulous. Hotel Roanoke is a standout w the best employees working the floor and place. Our server Ashley was impeccable from The Pine. My partner dropped his wallet at the bar and a kindly attendee picked it up and returned it right then. This would not have happened anywhere else. Our stay was made perfect by this honest gesture.

The very opulent Hotel Roanoke was very beautiful and impressive upon driving up and stepping foot inside. However, once inside, there was a very strong perfume/fragrance lingering in the lobby... I thought it was from another guest at first, but every time I entered the lobby, the smell of perfume was still there. For some, this may be pleasant, but for me and others who deal with choking/asthma issues, this was difficult to deal with.Check in was very simple, however there is some important information regarding extra fees and charges that we weren't told upon booking or check-in; like the $18 a night parking fee, or the $200 damages hold on your credit card on file. This is information that I wish I had, because it may have affected where I booked my stay.Customer service was decent most of the time; I did, however, have an interaction with one member of guest services that was less than pleasant, despite me speaking very respectfully and asking a general question regarding said parking fee. I felt that the guest services member seemed unappreciative of me asking the question and dealt with me in a belittling way.Lastly, our bathroom was not clean- I typically like to bring a cleaning kit with me for situations like this, but with Hotel Roanoke, one would expect a clean bathroom, at the very least. There was hair from the previous guest all over the bathroom; on the toilet, in the shower, in between the "clean" towels, and there was mold in the shower's grout... that is unacceptable. Because of the nature of my stay and having booked under an organization's group rate, I did not want to complain or make a fuss. I just know, I would have enjoyed my stay much better at an actual 3-star hotel and paid significantly less overall.I, personally, would prefer not to stay here again.

Absolutely beautiful when we pulled up! Decorated for the winter holidays. We were greeted by Cody in valet. So kind and helpful what a positive energy to begin our short yet memorable stay. Every single staff member we encountered was kind and spoke to us it didn't seem like it's because they were supposed to. I worked in hospitality and vacation rentals it can be overwhelming at times...exhausting.The whole property was immaculate and had character and charm just...just like the staff. Food was great we ate late at the bar due to our flight time. Rooms were so nice and comfortable and clean. Our only "personal" feeling was the beds were too hard for us. This is just a personal preference. We only stayed 1 night. If you have serious back problems just may need to know. Is it worth it absolutely! I'd stay 2 nights and take a melatonin or hang out at the beautiful bar a little longer or relax by the fire place!

This is my second time here. I have never been disappointed! I did dine for the first time, and I highly encourage you to have a lovely meal by the fountain. I could not finish my meal but it was delicious.

This has to be one of my favorite historic hotels from the Hilton line. It is just stunning inside in out with so much care in every detail. You are greeted first by the valets who are very helpful in assisting or answering questions. The hotel staff is professional and gives you a sense of elegance and home as a guest here. This hotel was just beautiful! It's the location perfect to walk or travel to a lovey hike or to stroll the downtown area. This was a perfect getaway as a couple and would return with family in the future.

We spent our wedding night here. The newly remodeled rooms were so expertly decorated. Wonderful old wood finishing in the lobby and elevators. The chef’s plate through room service was such a perfect blend of flavors for dinner. Breakfast at the Regency Room was spectacular. Thanks for the wonderful stay and great memories.

The location of this hotel is GREAT! It is very close to downtown with an enclosed bridge to get you safely over the railroad tracks. (Don't worry, I didn't hear a single train whistle for the entirety of my visit.) The hotel itself is gorgeous, and the main reception area is lovely, especially at Christmas time with all their decorations. Where they fell short was with the check in experience, and the overall cleanliness/maintenance of the room. We tried to get into the room a little early at 3:30, but were told that the room was not available yet. (Check in is officially 4:00) The receptionist offered to reach out to the cleaning staff to have the room tended to, and my husband and I went away until 4:45. Upon our return, a different receptionist told me that the room wasn't ready. I told her about the other receptionist reaching out to the cleaning staff, and I expressed surprise that the room wasn't yet ready, to which she replied 'I can't do anything about it.' No apology offered, no plan to communicate when the room was ready was offered, no alternatives offered. When I asked how long it would be, she told me she didn't know. I then asked if she would reach out to me when it was cleaned, and she said she would. This was an unfortunate series of events because at this point we had parked and brought our luggage up twice already. At 5:00 I was notified that the room was ready, and we brought our luggage up a third time. We worried that the housekeeping staff rushed through our room, and it was evident that they had. In particular, the mirrors, and coffee table had smears/drips on them and we found hairs in odd places. (Including a hair on the ceiling) One of the drawer front facades in the bathroom was falling off, revealing the bottom half of the sink. The room (a King suite) was probably magnificent at one time, but for my visit, it fell short of expectations.Definitely call in advance to make sure your room is ready before you arrive to avoid frustration.

My team sponsored an event here. I've had several over the years and this venue never disappoints. The space is great, the staff is exceptional. I've eaten at both on-site restaurants and the food is yummy. The charm and rooms take you back but provide the modern conveniences.

Can't say enough about this place. It looks like the Titanic on the inside! Super cool and built in the 1880s. There's even a neat old speakeasy tucked away by the bar. Service was impeccable and the staff were EACH friendly and amazing. The food is absolutely delicious and not that expensive for being at the hotel. (They also have an upscale restaurant if that's what you're looking for.) Locations is in the heart of it all. Go here. Be here.

Nice hotel. Good food and did a non standard room service food order. Hotel is on a hill above regular paid parking lot. So you might have to hike up to the hotel if no hotel taxi person sees you. On checking out from the paid parking lot supposedly your room card key unlocks the gate and you put the card in a box or container? But I (and apparently someone else) couldn't locate the box so put my card key on the gate controller. Overall though a minor point. The hotel also has valet car service if you don't want the walk up from the parking lot. All staff were friendly.

The first thing that strikes you is Hotel Roanoke grand architecture. As you make your way through the lobby, you are greeted by opulent chandeliers, antique furniture, and art pieces that whisper stories of days long past. Our room was tastefully furnished with plush bedding, vintage accents, and modern amenities that cater to the needs of today's discerning traveler. One of the highlights of staying at Hotel Roanoke was the impeccable service provided by the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Melonie was well-versed in the hotel's history. Richard provided amazing service in the dining room for breakfast.Hotel Roanoke is a true historical gem that captures the essence of a bygone era while providing all the comforts of the present day.Hotel Roanoke is sure to leave a lasting impression. Hotel Roanoke should be added to your bucket list.

We stayed here over 5 years ago & enjoyed our stay. We heard about the Dickens of a Christmas Tree Lighting & decided to visit again. We stayed in a beautiful suite w/a wonderful view overlooking the city market. The hotel was decorated so beautifully for Christmas. The staff was very friendly & the valet did a great job getting our vehicle when ever we needed it...and they were very busy. Thanks to the entire staff for making our stay very enjoyable!

We stayed here for my son's graduation from VT. This was a very important event and I was a little nervous being 45 min from Blacksburg but it worked out perfectly. The hotel has a beautiful front porch of which we sat while waiting for other family members to arrive. Our 4 rooms were ready 2 hours early and were conveniently on the same floor. The hotel front desk staff were pleasant and accommodating, especially with so many colleges having graduation the same weekend. We did leave early in the morning for the first commencement ceremony but we were well rest in the comfortable room and updated bathrooms. There is a Starbucks on site which made all the coffee drinkers happy (and their staff was great as well). The second commencement ended late, we arrived back to the hotel at 7:30 we enjoyed gathering in the lobby with a cocktail and a late dinner of small plates. The food and service was great and they could easily accommodate my daughters celiac restrictions. The conference center was the perfect location to gather with family members in a beautiful atmosphere. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ for providing an amazing venue for this family event.

Great one night stay here. It's a super interesting, historic hotel right across the train tracks from the downtown area. On a super hot day, the outstanding A/C and water pressure in the shower was much appreciated. Staff was super friendly, too. They are mid-renovation on the hotel, it seems, and it will be even better when that is complete.

Everyone raves about this hotel. While the staff was VERY kind, this might have been a better experience if there were only 2 of us. Traveling with two teens as well, and all of their double rooms are exactly that... Double beds. And not all of them include refrigerators. We were eligible for a "cathedral" room upgrade, but there are so many room options since it's an older building I wasn't quite sure about a room without standard amenities. We ended up in a room overlooking a rooftop with HVAC units. Our room was definitely large enough, so hopefully during the renovation and construction this will be addressed, but the beds need upgraded and replaced, there was black mold in the shower caulk, as well as paint bubbling and staining from an apparent leak in the ceiling at some point. The AC was also very loud, and the walls very thin to the point we could hear snoring. We walked around the hotel to find one of the elevators by the pool not marked but being utilized by the construction crew, lined with foam core. And some of the hallways were not marked the best to be able to find where the pool even was, as well as the coffee shop, Steam. One of the restaurants had the menu posted... While the interior looked dated, the prices were incredibly high. We opted to eat in town instead, with so much within walking distance. The location is great though. Lots to do, all very accessible on foot. And again, the front desk staff was very kind and accommodating. The refund was processed promptly. I do appreciate the level of service, and hopefully the hotel is putting in the work now to improve some of the downfalls we encountered.

I’m from Baltimore and I have to say this was very convenient to come down here to Roanoke and stay in this beautiful hotel. You literally get off the train and you’re a five minute walk to the hotel under a covered overpass. Service was Phenomenal and I’d like to thank Cameron one of the Bell guys from downstairs for taking me to the station very early. Like I said, I could’ve walked, but it was early and he got me here in about 30 seconds. I highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful hotel. Was here for a conference this week. Great food. AMAZING HOSPITALITY. Every single person we encountered was kind and accommodating. From check in to check out. I've never been to a hotel with awesome people and personalities like this. Rich with history, beautiful venue and conference center. Loved seeing signs of the past. If your nervous about your first trip to Roanoke stay here they will make you feel welcomed and at home. Kudos!!

High quality, historic, accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place if you're passing through and want a high-quality stay. It's not exactly resort-quality or anything, but it was far better than another chain hotel. The overall feel is pretty upscale. A little annoying that a set of like 5 train tracks is so close that there's a train rumbling by every 15 minutes.

Great location and beautiful hotel overall. Love how they redid the bar - it’s not even my hotel, and I’m proud of it.They are currently renovating, so try to ignore noise, unsightly walls, etc.On the bad end: we stayed in a room where you could feel something pin-like or staple-like poking through the carpet at the entryway of the room if you had bare feet or were in socks.Additionally, there was only one bedside table. Did they just run out of money when finishing this room? See attached photo of what I mean. You could definitely fit one between the door and the bed.So I had to pull the very nice armchair (not pictured) over to set things on.Someone one day is going to be doing that, and ruin the chair with their nightcap spilling on it.You guys are better off just making sure every room has two bedside tables….
